Animal behavior is the study of how animals interact with each other and their surroundings. It is a fascinating subject which distinguishes between animal psychology and animal behavior. Generally, wild animals would scare the shit out off most people but excite and inspire others. In today’s world most of us just talk about saving animals, there are very few who risk everything to do it. Today we are going to learn about the one’s who are crazy enough to think that a wild animal can be their friend.
Animal behaviorists are people who love animals, study them and understand their behavior. At the end of the day it is only possible because the animals chose them to be their friends. Their studies will focus on animals in the wild and their interaction with people. Generally, animal behaviorists are self-employed who work in the field to observe animals in their natural habitats. They do their job with enough passion just because they love animals.

Kevin Richardson – The Lion Whisperer
This self-taught animal behaviorist is 42 years old and the father of two young children. Richardson is referred to as the “Lion Whisperer” has become famous for his viral YouTube videos. Through his efforts, it is evident that his lifelong mission is to save lions from extinction. Though he specializes on lions behavior, he also interacted with leopards and hyenas. He has also featured in many documentaries, movies and commercials which made him popular across borders. He manages a wildlife area with almost 39 lions within the reserve to the north of South Africa’s capital, Pretoria. His main objective is to restrain the tradition of people petting cubs.
Jane Goodall – The Chimpanzee Lady
Goodall is a highly respected member of the world scientific community. She chose to study the behavior of Chimpanzees which would yield important evolutionary information. She is considered to be one of the top experts of chimpanzees. She approached to feed chimps on daily basis to gain trust and to obtain more thorough understanding of their behavior. She has spent almost 45 years of conducting research to study their different behaviors. She is famous for her work and even represented the UN as an ambassador of peace.
Lawrence Anthony – The Elephant Man
He is an international conservationist, known for his unique ability to calm traumatized elephants. He left a career in insurance and real estate to protect the world’s most endangered species. According to his son, two elephant herds arrived at his compound to mourn shortly after Anthony’s death.
Timothy Treadwell – The Grizzly Man
Grizzly Man was an American bear enthusiast and a documentary film maker. Treadwell spend almost 13 years of his life hanging around with a community of bears. Many considered him to be crazy and stupid for his approach in studying the behavior of these wild beasts. During his years of research, he camped in several Alaskan national parks, crawling and walking up close to bears and filming them. It’s been reported that national park service officials worried about Tim’s behavior right from the start. This story doesn’t end well, as one of the bears attacked and killed him.
Steve Irwin – The Crocodile Hunter
He is a famous Australian wildlife enthusiast, known for hosting a popular TV series “The Crocodile Hunter”. Many considered him to be a wildlife educator, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm of wildlife to the younger generation. Irwin in his trademark khaki shirt and shorts is a well know figure in the pop culture. In 2006, he was accidentally killed by a stingray during a diving expedition in Queensland. Some even criticized him for exploiting the animals that appeared on his shows. He is remembered even today for his contributions to the field of wildlife education and conservation.
