From period costumes to the raunchy look, Madhuri Dixit’s on-screen dresses have always been talked about. Madhuri is known for making heads turn with her bold outfits that make a statement. While her dazzling smile and affable personality is also a reason behind this, her extravagant on-screen dresses deserve a special mention. Orange saree from ‘Dhak dhak karne…’: Madhuri’s iconic dance and saree in the song, ‘Dhak dhak karne…’ bagged her the title of the ‘Dhak Dhak Girl.’ Madhuri turned all bold and seductive in this orange saree for the song from Beta. Her halter neck blouse and midriff revealing low-slung saree made the song one of the most sensuous songs of Bollywood ever. Though Madhuri is known for her dance numbers and gracious appearances, her luscious moves in the song came as a pleasant surprise. Madhuri’s saree completely stole the show by enhancing her frame and giving the otherwise slender actress, a voluptuous look, in this song.

The song made headlines for its bold lyrics and Madhuri’s sensuous moves. The colour red accentuated Madhuri’s gorgeous frame and made her look even more desirable. We give a ‘thumbs up’ to this flashy, red lehenga.

Royal blue saree from ‘Didi tera devar…’: Madhuri’s encrusted royal blue saree paired with a backless blouse was an instant hit. Madhuri looked every bit the desi diva in the wedding ensemble. Her look served as a source of inspiration for many women and similar sarees were a sold-out. The saree accentuated her curves and Madhuri once again proved her sensuality in the attire. The song and the moves have become almost as iconic as Shah Rukh and Kajol’s train scene from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Off white saree with red border from ‘Dola re dola’: Madhuri Dixit played Devdas’ love interest, Chandramukhi in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Devdas. Madhuri Dixit completely nailed the Bong look in the film. Madhuri donned a typical Bengali white saree with red border for the song, ‘Dola re dola.’ The saree was more than 8 metres long as opposed to the normal 6 metres. It took almost three hours to drape the fabric.

Maroon lehenga in ‘Kaahe chhed mohe’: In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Devdas, Madhuri Dixit donned this 30 kg heavy maroon lehenga for the song, ‘Kaahe chhed mohe.’ The song was choreographed by none other than the legendary Pandit Birju Maharaj. Madhuri looked breathtaking in the rustic lehenga. Despite the weight of the outfit, Madhuri danced with grace and poise. This is one dress that we would most certainly want to keep in a museum.
