Cancer is one of the most dreaded diseases creeping upon the human population. It seems to arrive silently and often people are too late to discover it. Cancer happens due to the uncontrollable growth of immature cells which disrupt normal functioning of the body. Doctors point out many causes of this deadly disease. One of them is our diet.

This cruciferous vegetable contains anti-oxidants known as sulforaphanes. Anti-oxidants help to rid our bodies of free radicals which may damage DNA. Cells with damaged DNA could turn cancerous. Not only is broccoli, a good source of fiber and many essential nutrients, but it also is very alkaline in nature.

The fact is that the compounds from the tomatoes are absorbed better by the body when it is cooked. So instead of munching on raw tomatoes, add it to soups, use it to make gravies or turn it into some pasta sauce!
