Where’s Swachh Bharat? Fans Litter Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium During India’s U-17 World Cup Match

Keeping your environment

clean is not about clicking selfies with a broom and posting them on social media. It is also not about celebrities backing the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and breaking the Internet with cleanliness drives. After all, what matters is an honest attempt and intent.

The most recent example of people forgetting about the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan was seen at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday.

As India struggled to go past against USA in the first game of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, visitors at the stadium failed to maintain the basic cleanliness standards they are expected to.

Before the match started, the stadium was squeaky clean. And it took 90 minutes for the fans to litter the stadium and leave a disappointing image of the venue. The stadium was spruced up by Indian football authorities. And India is hosting its first ever FIFA event.

After all, keeping India clean is about a collective intent.
